ESSENTIALNESS OF SPORTS

Don’t you think we neglect the essentialness of sports in our lives? I know the answer is yes .Yes, we SMITians tend to lose affinity towards sports after coming here not only because of the bare minimum and substandard facilities provided by the institute but also due to the reason that we are no longer propelled to go to the court to play and sweat it out. It is because we have tuned our lifestyle drastically in order to adapt to college life to such an extent that we have refrained ourselves to activities such as MAAL-roading or sitting at Pradhan. Not only are we missing out on our physical fitness but also on lessons that are essential in the life of a student.

When you play a sport it’s no longer just about increasing your physical abilities, it’s about the sensation that induces you when you see yourself stand up to your expectations. Not only this, leadership skills are enhanced while you play amongst your peers and team spirit is a key factor that makes sports vital in our student life. Various factors that come in to play when we talk about sports are discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, sacrifice, and accountability. Sports mold you with all these qualities in a way in which you can have fun as well as learn. The decision making capabilities attained by an individual by being into sports is priceless.

For some or rather most of the people, these few years in the college might be the last time when they go out and play or find time for any activity that coaxes them to go outside the 10x10 cubicle they live in. We need to change not just for the present but also for the future. Health plays a crucial role in later stages of life and when we realize that we could have taken steps to ensure a healthy life, its way too late .Don’t be late, you may never catch this flight again !
